SWACHH BHARAT MISSION PORTAL

As the nation converges towards Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of sanitation, the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) launched an e-learning platform on August 1, 2015. The portal was launched by Hon. Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu at an event held in Delhi.

The e-learning platform consists of e-course modules on sanitation aimed at building capacities of municipal officials and other individuals working in relevant areas of urban sanitation.

SBM E-course portal draws from the leading practices in sanitation sector and introduces these to municipal functionaries who are at the forefront of delivering objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). The various modules dwell into depth of each of the components of SBM and will be useful for officials of the state sanitation missions, city managers -engineers, administrators, field supervisors and sanitation workers in-charge of implementing SBM. Capacity building of officials would not only ensure proper implementation, but would also ensure sustenance of such initiatives. Through this, the urban local bodies would get equipped for taking strategic decisions on choosing technologies, financial viability, cultural appropriateness and operations & maintenance plans. The portal also provides flexibility to busy city managers by offering self-paced e-courses along with an option to download the courses.

To ensure that the key takeaways are comprehended by the course takers, a quiz is taken after the completion of every course. Only when a participant scores 100% by answering all the quiz questions correctly, he/she is issued a certificate.
