UMC’s project ‘The City Links Post Tsunami Recovery Initiative’ was adjudged best practice by Dubai International Award for Best Practices in 2008.
This film is dedicated to the efforts of SHGs formed under DAY-NULM across cities in India towards helping their communities and city governments during the COVID pandemic. They are helping manufacture masks, sanitizers and protective equipment, are running community kitchens, educating their community members on COVID-19, fighting misinformation and even providing banking and financial solutions to their communities.
In continuation of our e-learning series where Ramila, Sushila and Gul discover the strength of coming together as a SHG and how with the help of DAY-NULM’s functionaries, they not only overcome challenges in their personal lives, but are able to resolve issues of their basti. In this film, they talk about their roles in responding to the COVID crisis.
We as a nation have reacted rapidly to the Covid-19 outbreak. Our medical, paramedical teams, staff of state and local governments with law enforcement officials have been at the forefront of these efforts. additionally, we need to protect all sanitation workers from getting infected so that they continue to provide crucial sanitation services, but also prevent inadvertent spread of the infection.
